Topstep Accounts: Separate the Trading Combine, XFA and Live Stage
Topstep's public guide describes a futures prop-trading route through the Trading Combine, Express Funded Account and Live Funded Account. Those labels are not interchangeable. This review on 24 October 2026 focuses on the environment, balance description and conditions to record before comparing another programme.

Start with the stage and its environment
The Trading Combine is described as a simulated evaluation. Topstep's XFA parameters also explicitly describe the Express Funded Account as simulated. Its separate Live Funded Account document describes real capital and markets. A reader should therefore record the actual stage rather than treating the word funded as proof of a live brokerage balance.
The XFA parameters distinguish Standard and Consistency payout paths. The Live page refers to a later call-up and its own rules. None of these published descriptions is proof that a particular reader has passed, activated an account, received money or been selected for Live.
The displayed tier is different from a cash balance
Topstep's activation guide says the XFA starts at a zero balance, while a displayed size such as 50K is buying power. It also states that the Trading Combine balance does not carry over into the XFA. That is a direct reason not to enter the nominal tier as cash owned or as a received payment.
Consider a fictional record showing a 50K tier and a zero starting balance. Record both fields with their labels. Do not rewrite the balance as 50,000 or call the entire buying-power number withdrawable. A positive simulated result is still a different event from meeting a payout condition and receiving money.
| Record | What the source describes | What it is not |
|---|---|---|
| Trading Combine | Simulated evaluation | A received funded payout |
| Express Funded Account | Simulated funded-level stage | The Live Funded stage |
| XFA starting balance | Zero in the activation guide | The nominal buying-power tier |
| Displayed 50K example | Buying power, with its own units and rules | 50,000 of personally withdrawable cash |
| Live Funded Account | Separate real-capital stage and parameters | A guarantee following every evaluation |
A Singapore record still needs citizenship and residence fields
The eligibility FAQ says both citizenship and permanent residency matter, sets a minimum age of 18 and distinguishes some XFA-only countries from Live access. A Singapore diary or page language does not itself establish personal eligibility for either stage.
Keep citizenship, residency, programme, environment, provider rule date and observed account status as separate fields. If using SGT for a personal journal, preserve the provider's stated clock separately. This article supplies no fixed timezone conversion or calendar rule for all trading sessions.
Make the comparison using the same kind of number
Use the table to distinguish nominal size, reported balance, environment and actual outcome. Comparing a buying-power label with another programme's initial simulated equity would mix different fields even if both display the same headline number.
No account or payout was tested here, and this is not a full parameter or fee comparison. The sponsored HashHedge link is a separate provider decision: verify its own market, evaluation and country conditions rather than importing Topstep's futures access, tier or stage labels.
