Contract Quantity and Denomination Converter

Translate contracts into their stated denomination before using another formula.

Your inputsBrowser calculationCSV export

For a hypothetical linear contract with 0.001 BTC per contract, 100 contracts represent 0.1 BTC. Entering 0.1 as base quantity converts back to 100 contracts. This exact conversion is separate from whether the venue accepts that count under its order-step rules.

What this helps you check

The number typed into an order ticket may be a contract count, base quantity or quote face value. This converter makes that denomination explicit. For a linear contract it links contracts to base quantity; for an inverse contract it links contracts to quote face value using your supplied multiplier.

The result names the resulting unit. It does not silently round the order or validate venue granularity. Quanto contracts require their own specification and are outside this linear/inverse conversion. A quote face value must not be fed into a base-quantity formula.

Inputs are processed in your browser by this calculator. There is no quote lookup or file upload for the calculation. Site measurement and consent are handled separately by the site's privacy and consent controls.

How the worksheet works

  1. Linear permits input_unit contracts or base; inverse permits contracts or quote. Reject incompatible choices.
  2. If input is contracts, contracts=amount; otherwise contracts=amount/multiplier.
  3. Linear base_quantity=contracts*base_per_contract. Inverse quote_face=contracts*quote_per_contract.
  4. Report exact conversion without silently rounding or validating venue order steps.

The result names the resulting unit. It does not silently round the order or validate venue granularity. Quanto contracts require their own specification and are outside this linear/inverse conversion. A quote face value must not be fed into a base-quantity formula.

Boundaries to keep in view

  • Do not infer multiplier units from base_currency or a symbol name.
  • No quanto support, liquidation calculation or price-based linear quote conversion.
  • Fractional contract results may not be tradable; venue sizing rules are separate.

Compare resources for this task

Contract references are valuable when they make the multiplier and payout denomination explicit. The comparison focuses on interpreting an order amount, not selecting the most profitable contract or ranking venue performance.

  • Deribit inverse futures units

USD contract size and order amount differ from BTC/ETH settlement units; base_currency alone does not identify contract_size units.
