Prop Contract Rounding: Check Costs After the Sizing Step
A contract quantity can satisfy a sizing step while still exceeding a separate cash budget. Preserve the desired amount, rounded amount, remainder and scenario assumptions. A rounding result is one check rather than a complete risk assessment.

Use the actual contract increment
Read the instrument’s quantity unit, minimum and step from its current specification. A decimal-place display is not necessarily the same as an allowed step. The contract multiplier and the units used in a cash scenario also need explicit definitions.
For a fictional desired 7.35 contracts with a0.2-contract step, rounding down by whole increments gives 7.2. The unallocated remainder is 0.15 contracts. No order has been accepted merely because the arithmetic fits the teaching increment.
Add the separately supplied cash assumptions
Take a hypothetical multiplier of 3 quote units per point per contract and a two-point adverse scenario. At 7.2 contracts, gross scenario amount is 7.2 ×3 ×2 =43.2 quote units. Add supplied costs of 5 to obtain 48.2.
Against a separate teaching budget of 45, that modeled total is 3.2 above budget. Neither 45 nor the two-point move is a provider loss rule or maximum execution guarantee. Gaps, other positions and missing costs can make a real account result different.
| Field | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Quantity after step | floor(7.35/0.2) ×0.2 | 7.2 contracts |
| Remainder | 7.35−7.2 | 0.15 contracts |
| Gross adverse scenario | 7.2 ×3 ×2 | 43.2 quote units |
| With supplied costs / budget | 43.2+5 versus 45 | 48.2;3.2 above teaching budget |
Review the product and account independently
The related quantity converter on this site remains available. HashHedge’s actual instrument caps and evaluation conditions need a current check for the selected product. Do not treat the example multiplier or step as a platform specification.
The optional sponsored link is to current programme information. This page submits no order and recommends no exposure. Its useful result is the distinction between a valid quantity increment and a complete, explicitly bounded cash scenario.
